Shining City On The Lake

24 x 36 acrylic on canvas board derived from an article I had read on Detroit. The article described the troubles that the city had suffered and showed people and houses that had been affected. It then went on to say that a recovery was starting with the resurgence of the automobile industry and the resilience of the people in facing the crisis. The painting shows bright spots shining through the darkness to symbolize and hope that a better future for Detroit lies ahead.

Tempest - Zanti XVIII

36 X 24 Acrylic on canvas. Another in the Zanti series. I love the vibrancy of the colors in this piece it shows the energy within the horse.

Tempest - Zanti XVII

36  x 24 Acrylic on canvas board. Another in the Zanti series. I have been quiet of late because I have been working the farm but here is another long overdue.

Tempest - Zanti XVI

36 x 24 Acrylic on Canvas board. Another in the Zanti series. I had talked previously of moving to a 4 acre farm and that has now taken place. It has been a lot of work preparing for Zanti and Summer to be relocated to the farm. 500 feet of fencing just to name one task but they are now over and when I sit on the deck in the morning they are there saying hello. A very pleasant experience. Incidentally that is the name of the township we are now residing in Pleasant Township.

Tempest - Zanti XV

24 x 18 Acrylic on canvas board. The color version of a previously posted black and white of Zanti the thoroughbred/quarterhorse. I will be moving the horses to a 4 acre farm in the near future and look forward to seeing them cavort and run while painting on the deck.

Rainbow Meadows Rescue Ranch 2013 Gala

The annual Rainbow Meadows Rescue Ranch Gala 2013 took place on February 23rd 2013. A fund raising event for the horses. I donated Tempest XII - Zanti framed and matted. The painting was well received with many bidders, the eventual winning bid was $800. The many comments were that they loved the vibrant colors which were in keeping with the South Western theme of the evening and  that the images that are displayed on this blog and the fineartamerica/davebrownart/profile.html web site do not do justice to the original artwork. I must congratulate the organisers of the Gala for a fun evening with beautiful food once again supplied by Truffles catering and the winners of the event are the horses.

Tempest - Summer Paint

24 x 18 acrylic on canvas board. Summer the Paint horse looking out into the pasture and the beautiful blue sky that Kansas is known for. She has a "top hat" and also markings on the front. This would have been a prized horse by the native american Indians for when going into battle they felt that they were invincible with the shield and top hat markings on the horse.
