The painting is about the resurgence of Detroit and the trials and tribulation that this great city has been through but with the return of the auto industry and the resilience of the people it will bounce back again. Self Portrait

I created this self portrait whilst looking in a mirror and sketching the results and then taking it to the studio and painted. Its interesting how we each see ourselves maybe not as others see us. I have created a ruddier complexion than the reality and my face is more round and plump. But in that brief moment of looking in the mirror and sketching this is how I appeared to myself.
