Yellow Taxi Cab New York
24 x 18 diptych acrylic on canvas board derived from a photograph taken in Times Square New York. The work was an award winner at the Wichita Center for the Arts in 2008.
I love this piece! Welcome to blogger and the great world of art on the internet. If you need anything, do not hesitate to drop a note. You can click on one of my EMAIL ME links on my blog.
I truly am drawn to the colors that you use in your work. Your overall is raw and free and not confined by expected visions. Exceptionally good in fact. How long have you been painting? L
Laurie, I am delighted to receive your comment on my painting. I am a great admirer of your equestrian paintings and love the use of the palette knife and colour choices that show movement. I am encouraged by your words and will be posting more paintings from my recent London trip.
Born in London England and transplanted in Wichita Kansas USA in 1995. Married with two adult daughters who both live in Wichita also. I have painted for many years originally with water colour but have used acrylics for some time now as you can achieve similar effects as water colours but with faster drying times. I like to take photographs of urban life i.e. buildings, people, transport and use these as the basis for the artwork. More recently since adopting the rescue horse Summer I have painted abstract and representational paintings of horses. My interpretation will use complimentary colours as a rule but do sometimes use the colours that are represented in the photograph. I have donated art to local charities who have sold them at auction. This is my first blog so I will use it to show current work in progress and finished pieces that may be purchased; if interested in purchasing any art pieces please visit the link to fineartamerica in the blog list on this page.
